GOP Needs New Blood. President Trump is ‘Old and Tired.

• In an interview with The Guardian, John Bolton stated that Trump is “old-and-tired”.
• Former national security advisor suggested that the GOP needed a “fresh face.”
• This comes after the disappointment of the party in the wake of the midterm elections results. 

John Bolton, President Trump’s National Security Advisor, stated that Trump was “old news”. He also criticized Trump after the turnout in the midterm election, and suggested that the GOP needed a “fresh face.”

Bolton, speaking to The Guardian on Saturday, stated that while there are many reasons not to support Trump as the nominee.

“Even though they loved his style, loved him approach, loved all his policies, and loved everything about him they don’t want him to lose. The fear is that, given the results of 8 November, if he wins the nomination, not just would he lose, but he would also take a lot of Republican candidates with him.

Trump announced that he is running again for office after he supported several candidates who failed in the midterms. 

Recent interview with PBS by Bill Barr, Former Attorney General, echoed similar concerns. He said that Trump has been “fading for months” and that the recent midterm election, I believe, have really popped Trump’s balloon.

Bolton claimed that people are considering a candidate like Florida governor. Ron DeSantis is a potential candidate for the 2024 nomination. The governor won reelection with a 20-point margin over Charlie Crist. 

“DeSantis’s run for governor of Florida has been very successful. Bolton said that DeSantis won re-election in November with a large majority. “Many people see him as the next generation candidate. That’s one of Trump’s biggest problems – his act is old and tired now.”
