Kim Kardashian, ‘Disgusted’ by Balenciaga Holiday campaign

  • Kim Kardashian posted that she was outraged by Balenciaga’s holiday advert.
  • Balenciaga was forced to apologize and remove its ads following accusations of having sexually abused children.
  • After the backlash, Kardashian was urged by fans to make a stand.

Kim Kardashian said to her fans that she was outraged by the Balenciaga holiday campaign for which she was accused of sexualizing minors.

Kardashian posted her thoughts to Twitter on Sunday. She said she waited to make a statement in order “understand” the circumstances of the campaign.

Kardashian wrote that she was a mother of four and had been “shaken by the disturbing pictures.” “The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”

Skims founder said that she was thankful for the ad, but was “reevaluating” her relationship to the company.

“As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,” Kardashian wrote.

Balenciaga apologised and removed the ads on social media on Tuesday, following backlash. The ads showed a child with a teddy bear wearing bondage gear and a document from the Supreme Court regarding child sexual abuse images.

The company also filed a $25 million suit against production company North Six, Inc. and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins for inclusion of the Supreme Court documents in the ad.

Balenciaga apologized and fans pressed Kardashian to post a statement on Instagram. Balenciaga has featured her in advertisements before, and she often wears the brand on red carpets.
