In the hope of causing chaos in Ukraine, a Russian general suggested that they could strike at Ukraine’s banks in future missile strikes.

According to a Telegram clip by Andriy Tsaplienko, a member Russia’s State Duma and General Andriy Gurulev said that targeting Ukraine’s banks infrastructure would make Kyiv unable pay its people’s salaries, ending the war.

“After strikes against energy facilities, it is necessary to destroy the banking infrastructure. The aim is to create chaos and leave Ukrainians without a job or a source of income. Tsaplienko shared the clip as he wrote it in his post.

In a daily address, Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian President, stated that since February when Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, Moscow has launched more than 4,700 rockets at Ukraine.

Russia launched massive missile strikes on critical Ukrainian infrastructures, including energy plants, in recent weeks. Numerous territories in Ukraine were left without heat and electricity as a result of the recent Russian missile strikes.

Russian officials Dmitry Peskov (Kremlin spokesman) and Vasily Nebenzya (Russian permanent representative to the United Nations) admitted that Moscow was bombing Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. This is to weaken its military potential, and force it to negotiate.

The special military operation’s goal is to weaken the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army. It will be achieved by military means until Kyiv takes a realistic situation, which will allow it to discuss and attempt to resolve those problems that prompted us to launch this special military operation,” Nebenzya stated at the UN Security Council Meeting last Wednesday.

CNN reported that at least 32,000 civilian targets have been damaged by the Russian army since the outbreak of war. This includes private homes, apartment buildings, and critical infrastructure. Yevhenii Yenin, a Ukrainian diplomat was quoted as saying that CNN also reported that the Russian army caused significant damage to the Ukrainian military’s infrastructure. According to the Ukrainian official, only 3% of Russian shellings were directed at military facilities.

Weeks of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy grid have resulted in power outages and water cuts in much of the country.
