Five people were injured and one was killed in a shooting incident near a popular shopping area in Atlanta.

One person was reported to have been killed and five others were injured in a shooting that broke out Saturday night near an entertainment and shopping district in Atlanta.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m. local, Atlanta police Lt. Germain Dearlove stated in a Saturday night news briefing. The scene was captured on video, which showed heavy police presence and several roads being blocked off.

Dearlove stated that one victim, a male, was declared dead on the spot, while five other victims were taken to nearby hospitals with unspecified injuries. The victims all had between 15-21 years old. No names were immediately given.

Dearlove stated that a “large” group of juveniles were escorted from Atlantic Station property just prior to the shooting by security because of “unruly behavior and curfew violations.”

They then gathered together on the 17th Street bridge. A “dispute” ensued, which escalated to gunfire.

Dearlove claimed that the precise circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. No arrests were made.

Dearlove explained, “It might be between two group, one shooting at the other so two possible shooters.”

Atlantic Station is a bustling shopping area with numerous stores and restaurants. It’s located just outside of downtown Atlanta.
